SEGA just announced that is bringing back the beloved Shenmue saga in 2018.
Today, Video game publisher Sega announced in their social media accounts that the Shenmue saga will come back this year. Due to constant requests by the fans, Sega decided to revive the saga to bring it to the new gaming platforms.
Shenmue I & II remastered will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The trailer doesn’t show that much but it’s enough to bring the hype on again. This is not a reboot, neither a new installement.
Both games (I & II) will come in one package and will feature japanese and english voice over, classic or modern controls and more.
Fans of the saga where expecting news from Sega about Shenmue for years, specially a continuation, and then a few years ago, a new project directed by the original writer and director of the story, Yu Suzuki brought back the hope to the fans.
There’s not much news currently about the third installement, and Sega didn’t say much about that project. It is known though, that Sega isn’t endorsed officially with that project, at least just yet.
This is the official trailer of Shenmue III uploaded in the official PlayStation Youtube channel:
At the moment, Shenmue III is announced for PS4 and PC platforms.
This new official announcement could potentially open doors to conversation between Mr. Suzuki and Sega, and thus bring the third game to the old family house.
We’ll just have to wait for more Sega official news on the matter in the future.
